North Star Viols
The Upper Midwest chapter of the Viola da Gamba Society of America

he North Star Viols was organized in 1998 to encourage performance opportunities and provide educational activities relating to the Viola da Gamba in the upper midwest.

To these ends, North Star Viols gathers people interested in early music and viols, organizes workshops and performance opportunities for players ranging from beginners to very experienced, publishes an informational newsletter, and provides opportunities to purchase music and instruments.

The North Star Viols maintain a close relationship with the Twin Cities Recorder Guild, which helps strengthen both organizations. Among the benefits of this partnership are opportunities for mixed consort playing.
